pain under left rib

After speaking with the hospital team regarding the pain under my left rib I have been told it is unlikely to be CLL related as my bloods are stable.

I would be pleased to hear your thoughts about just accepting this given that it’s clearly on the list of things to look out for.

Its difficult to give a educated opinion because the only CBC info I found on you was from 2 years ago and was just a couple stats. Since you have posted questions now and then. It would be beneficial to you, if you post your latest CBC w/diff.Laying that aside, since you have had CLL/SLL for 5 years or so. It may very well be that you have some spleen associated pain.

Mine started as what I thought was a muscle pull, stitch in my left torso rib area. It gradually worsened over months. To where I became comvinced it was spleen origionating pain. Then it was confirmed from a upper torso CT scan. Further along as the spleen grew larger to 15.5cm and was palpable by Docs. I was also at that time loosing 5 lbs a month. I could not eat much at all. Maybe a half a sandwhich at a time. Really small portions as the spleen was crowding my stomach.

6 cycles into treatment now. My spleen, left rib area still hurts, but much less so. I can now eat normally.

My spleen was quite small compared to others who have had 20cm spleens. Some of those other members have had no discomfort with an enlarged spleen. But I am writing a response to let you know that even a relatively small enlarged spleen can cause much discomfort.

So is your pain your speen? A Doctor palpitating it or a scan of some type will comfirm a yes or no.

Hope this helps...:)

it can be also related to your stomach. Have you had any stomach problems? Do you notice the pain getting worse shortly after you eat?

I am early stage 0 and no spleen issues yet but I do have gastric issues from time to time and get a pain in left side. Most of the time it’s trapped air and if I walk and massage the area in the direction of digestive tract (there are videos to show direction) it works itself out. I’ll have this off and on for a week or so then it goes off. Mirakax regularly also helps

I’ve had left pain from an enlarged spleen and began treatment (had other symptoms too) but I’ve also had left pain now and then for years and it’s been from gastrointestinal issues. Nothing serious for me and remedied easily.
