Does anyone know what the current mortality rate is for CLL patients on V + O who get COVID?

Thx

It's a bit hard to get current data, but per my reply here healthunlocked.com/cllsuppo... while the general population did better on Omicron (up to May 2022), those with cancer, particularly a blood cancer, did worse.

Also later, from the ASCO® 2023 Insights: "Results of A041702, an Alliance Phase 3 Study of IVO vs. IO for Previously Untreated Older Patients With CLL and Impact of COVID-19"

healthunlocked.com/cllsuppo...

13% of those on IVO had COVID-19 stage 3, 4 or 5 (i.e. death) compared to 7% on IO.

I have to say that I am seriously concerned I will not be able to avoid COVID or some other respiratory infection this winter. I am working remotely (thereby avoiding infection-ridden students), but my wife returned to office-working in March. I support her fully in that. She has to live. It isn't practical for her to wear a mask, but I suppose the upside is that it isn't that crowded.

On W & W, I had Cvd., I had no issue at all, I am in touch with several others in a similar situation same thing, I know of 2 people who had treatment and then had Cvd, all had no issues. Good Luck!

skipro,

I'm just one person, but I tested positive for Covid last October. I had finished Obin in July and was on 400mg of Venetoclax. I called and received Beblitovomab infusion and barely felt a symptom at all. In January I got a random sinus infection and that was awful. These days I actually feel better about illnesses that can be treated than the viral ones that can't.

But no-one who died from COVID can reply to your question.

They'd only be bitter, so probs best that they can't. 😁

I had COVID last February and my only symptom was mild chills prior to testing positive. I was getting the Gazyva infusions at that time and taking Venetoclax. I took Plaxlovid and cut my Venetoclax in half while on Plaxlovid. No symptoms. Then I got rebound COVID and was taken off Venetoclax for 10 days. No symptoms except loss of smell for about a week. I was scared to death but never even felt bad. My healthy husband didn't feel so hot. He had bad headache, chills and fatigue for a few days and body aches.

I had an extremely mild reaction to Covid whilst on Venetoclax and didn’t cease treatment for the duration.
