Well, that worked!

This week I was successful at getting the first 2 doses of Gazyva following the reaction last week. The pic above is the desensitization titration used for the first 100 mg. Starting at a dose so low (.01) they had trouble programing the pump. Then they raised it slightly every 15 minutes for 4 hours. (The nurse was using a print out to track it and let me take a pic.)

I was fearful of another reaction, as they weren't sure if it was an allergy or an infusion reaction, but I was so very well cared for. The infusion doc, the charge nurse, the STAT nurse and the nurses who cared for me last week all came in and reassured me they were there, and that everyone knew the plan. I have a port which was used for the infusion and they placed a second IV in my arm for emergencies. They almost knocked me out with pre-meds, but it all worked.

Yesterday I had a very similar schedule and protocol for the 1000 mg, over 5 hours, and again all went well.

I'm so very grateful for good care, and that I still have the opportunity to use this med and add Venclaxia to hopefully have a long remission.

CLL treatment has come such a long way!

That is so good to hear, that all went well. Sure beats the scary start last time. May you have continued smooth sailing from here. Any after infusion side effects?

I am feeling kind of fluish, but that's a small thing. Thanks for the well wishes.

Obi made me feel bad for a few days each time. Almost like low blood sugar. Orange juice seemed to help. After about the 4th infusion, I hardly noticed anything.
