Hi Helma, welcome to our community, which I see you have just joined.

I see from your bio that you are taking Calquence/acalabrutinib. How long have you been taking Calquence? How soon do you see this vision blurriness effect and how long does it last?

While there are over 1,100 posts about calcquence or acalabrutinb, I couldn't see any mentioning vision or blurry in the first page of results.

I've modified your post title but left it open to the internet, so anyone in the world with similar results might reply: healthunlocked.com/cllsuppo...

I am taking Calquence for 3 month now. After I noticed vision change I went to see my ophthalmologist he didn’t find anything wrong with my eyes except that I have dry eyes and I should get a new prescription for my glasses. Well good luck to get an appointment! (Got one for the end of January lol) ! Have an appointment with my oncologist December 21. Other than that the Calquence works really well and almost all of my numbers are back to normal.

Hi Helma, Welcome! I'm glad you've found our very supportive community.

Blurred vision isn't mentioned in the calquence patient brochure so it can't be a common side effect:

However, both the Mayo Clinic and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center mention blurred vision in their information about the medication. They state that you should see your doctor as soon as possible if you experience blurred vision when taking calquence/acalabrutinib.

The Mayo Clinic links blurred vision with the possibility of infection:

I hope you can contact your doctor without too much trouble and that s/he can reassure you and assist you with the issue you're experiencing.

CLLerinOz, you mention infection. Could this be from a CNS infection? If so, she should not hesitate to seek treatment.

If blurred vision is a infrequent side effect of the medication, it is a very frequent side effect of diabetes. Blood sugar changes can affect your eyes quickly and noticably. "Retaining water" can change the shape of your eyeball. Do you take your meds with food? If so what foods and would this be a ( remote?) possibility? Just another avenue for thought. My best to you!
