After sending in the PCR test on Monday, I finally got approval for Paxlovid and have just received the pills. Is it OK to start taking them in the evening just before meals? The GP originally said I didn't qualify but going a different route through test and trace and the home PCR test kit I managed to find a way. Still suffering from the symptoms of COVID on and off. Sweating , feeling about to sneeze and a bit tired. I would like to thank all those who replied to me for their support in the past few days

Just looked at nhs site and it says take whole with water asap. Best to look at any information supplied with the medicine or ring nhs but the NHS site seems fairly good if you look at how to take etc
Just caught up with your posts. So sad you you had this hassle. Glad you've now have the treatment.
Just make sure you order lateral flow tests via the NHS site for any future use so that (heaven forbid) you get it again in the future you can register any positive test via that route. It should then trigger the treatment route for you as it did for my husband. He's had Covid twice now, once was before vaccine availability & once after.
I am now alternating between periods of sweat/high temperature and metallic taste in my mouth. Back in March the NHS sent out rapid response PCR test kits to the clinically vulnerable (it might have been before) 'they later accepted the results from an NHS lateral flow test which ceased to be free for most people in April. I had not used mine. After being frustrated with the response from my GP, 119 and 111 I remembered I had the PCR test kit which hadn't been used. I did the test and sent from one of the post boxes where they are collected. I forgot to register it but they received it and reminded me so I went through the long registration process. Once they established I was clinically extremely vulnerable and tested positive they notified the CMDU in this area who called and arranged for me to get Paxlovid by courier. They have now sent another PCR test kit. I was told I have to isolate for 5 days but am not feeling up to going out anywayDave
I'm very pleased that you obtained Paxlovid Dave, and very sorry you were failed so abysmally by those elements of the healthcare system we most depend on.
Your eventual salvation by PRIORITY PCR is a reminder to all CLL patients in the UK. These priority kits were sent out, from late last year, to those eligible for the new treatments gov.uk/government/publicati... In principle anyway - not everyone who should have received a priority kit was sent one.
So people, if you have a Priority PCR test kit sitting at the back of a cupboard, don't forget it's there and don't throw it away - it could be your ticket to getting a potentially life saving Covid antiviral after the medics have said no.

For me my Heamatologist prescribed 1 pink and 1 white tab morn and evening. The dose is actually 2 white and 1 pink in the pack. What does it say on the box? Should give you instructions re when and how to take them.
