Received My Evusheld Injections This Week

As I previously posted, I completed my 12 month Obinutuzumab/Venclexta CLL treatment regimen March 1st. Because I tested "No detectable antibodies..." after four Moderna Covid vaccinations, I qualified for the new Evusheld monoclonal antibodies injections. I was told that Evusheld is not affected by the cancer drugs in my bloodstream, that these antibodies are good for six months and then I should come back for another round. I called The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and asked if they wanted me to donate a blood sample in four or five weeks, like I did after each Covid vaccination. I was politely told that they are not interested in Evusheld antibodies. I obtained my Evusheld injections at the Mays Cancer Center/ MD Anderson here in San Antonio, March 10th. It took about an hour and a half. Thirty minutes to check in and for them to order the meds from the in-house pharmacy, ten minutes to escort me to a toilet room to bend over and get an injection in each cheek. Completely painless. I was then REQUIRED to remain in the central infusion area for ONE hour. They put me on a sixty minute timer/alarm. I was then allowed to leave. They even stamped my parking slip for free parking. It has been three days and I have zero side effects, so far. My butt isn't even sore. I am "assuming" that I have antibodies for the next six months.... hopefully getting some normality back in my life. I will keep y'all informed on my progress.

Thanks Dan for sharing - I am still in W&W but also had no detectable antibodies after 4 Pfizer jabs, so I have an appointment at St. Luke's Hospital in Columbus NC for my Evusheld on Wednesday, It was really encouraging to hear you had no side effects!!

Hello, I received Evusheld here on 3/10 and read the medication printout that’s 20 pages and it said maybe 3% of study had any noticeable side effects. I call that a no brainer as it’s so low. Maybe a little bit tireder next day, but well worth the drive.

Lucky you, still waiting for it to be approved in Canada I would love to feel that I have some protection, being on Ibrutinib does not enable me to have any antibodies from the regular vaccines. I can hardly wait. Be safe and well.

Thanks for posting! I’m going in April and had no idea what to expect. The details are helpful, including getting stamped for parking! (I will remember to ask at my NYC hospital!)
