Im wondering if you good people can fill me in about the above. Havent heard about it. Is it an alternative to one of the covid vacs. OR is it an additional shot for people who are immuno compromised like myself. ) Im fully vaxed and due to have the booster shot in February 22. (my oncologist advised me to wait the 6months after the initial 2 doses).
Thanking you Ms B
PS. Sending special healing prayers to June and daughter at this sad time.

Hi not sure what country your from its now started in the UK , it's administered usually through IV and if you meet the criteria ( which you do ) it will be administered usually in the hospital , pretty sure it's not being administered in the community at the moment . Obviously the Doctors will only administer it if it's needed All the best
Hi In Australia , just been watching the cricket from there not good news on that front , yes it's only given if you infected with the virus , not given as a protective measure beforehand , it's called Ronapreve but there also other treatments out there anti virals drugs etc , I just checked and Ronapreve is available in Australia obviously don't know what states etc
Sotrovimab was the first such drug to be approved in Australia, and lab tests suggest it will be effective against the Omicron variant as well as earlier strains of the virus.
Is it true that other monoclonal antibody treatment were found good for Covid but not effective for the omicron strain? There is so much information and misinformation out there that it’s difficult to know what is correct and what is not!
The post AussieNeil mentions, plus another healthunlocked.com/cllsuppo... cover quite well what is known. So far, what is known is how these monoclonals neutralise an Omicron pseudo-virus in the lab. It will take weeks or months before we begin to see how well each drug does at keeping patients out of hospital.
The antibodies are to treat Covid. I had three Pfizer shots and also developed natural antibodies. I got Covid. On the third day I was sick I got the antibody infusion. I was much better within 36 hours. Chest congestion was gone! I was weak for about two weeks. Now, 52 days since I got sick, I feel great. Lots more energy. I hope this helps.
Dukelaxdad—-I am in US and about two weeks ago the FDA aprroved the new AstraZeneca Monoclonal Antibody to be called, “EVUSHELD”. It has been in use in UK and perhaps other locations for about a year? This drug is approved for, and to be used as a prophylactic, or Prevention Infusion specifically for Immunocomprimised individuals! Such as me, who has three Pfizer Jabs and no detectable antibodies? Again, this is what I have been told? There is support documentation on line to better explain this. I could attempt to send if I can figure out how? Lol. Have a great upside down Christmas and try to keep all your blood from running to your head! My cousin, Martha Nixon, has been an Outback Missionary’s wife for over 60 down there! She is the Widow of Rev. Les Nixon, who started the flying outback ministry! God Bless yu’all and their Blessed Lives! 🙏🙏❤️🙏🙏
Key point to know (but consult with your doc on this point for your situation)… is that my CLL doc and my wife’s cancer doc (both our docs) told us last week…
“If” we test positive for Covid, Do NOT try to fight it… instead Do GO GET the monoclonal antibodies right away! You have a very short window of time to get it for it to work (within 10 days of having covid symptoms). It could save your life (assuming the MAB works against the Covid variant your infected with).
Suggest know ahead of time; how and where to get an appt to get it, assuming where you live it’s available for people with your medical situation?
News flash just in … In US, FDA just approved Pfizer pill Paxlovid to take for early treatment of Covid. This may be a huge game-changer, maybe bigger than MABs. Look for more info and available on that.
