Antibodies anti SARS-CoV-2 IgG (COVID-19) :

Detection of AB class IgG, including neutralizing AB , against the region of subunity S1 of the Spike protein of SARS-CoV-2

Méthod: CMIA

result : 44.9 AU/ml

Negative: less than 50.0

Positive: same or higher than 50.0

Any thoughts ? This means i have some ab after ca

thanks

My reading of that result is:

If the test result reads 50.0 AU per millilitre of blood or higher, that is regarded as Positive.

If the test result reads less than 50.0 AU per millilitre of blood, that is regarded as Negative.

Your result is : 44.9 AU/ml

So would be regarded as Negative.

Though my understanding is - you are just below the threshold, so you have some Anti-bodies, but not enough to be truly effective to fight off the disease.

Just my thoughts.

Stay Safe.

This is just an educated guess on my part. Most cut-offs for lab work are by their nature somewhat arbitrary. If the normal range for hemoglobin was 13 to 15, there is still little practical difference between someone who is 12.8 and someone who is 13.2, despite the fact that one would be reported as abnormal and one as normal.

Similarly with antibody testing, I don’t think someone who tests positive at exactly 50ML/au is much different than someone negative at 49ML/au.

It appears you had a borderline negative test. I personally would be pleased with those results. It may or may not be enough to protect you from a covid diagnosis, there are so many other factors including variant type and level of exposure.

My guess would be that if not full protection, your results show enough antibodies to make a difference and if not prevent covid, turn a potentially serious case of covid milder.

All that said, it’s possible I completely misunderstand how antibody levels are reported. I am comfortable in saying that with other labs, being slightly out of normal range is little different than being low normal.

Hi cajunjeffCan you tell if my 796 Units of IgGII level for covid antibodies is good? Just found out this evening. Been on Ibrutinib for 7 years

Many thanks Jacqueline
