Hiall, I'm going to be treated for my CLL (first treatment in the 13 years that I've had it)with Venetoclax and obinutuzumab. Has anybody had any experience with this combination? I've been told I'll need to stay in hospital for the night after the infusion. I assume this is common??

Has anybody had any experience with Venetoclax and obinutuzumab?
I started the same treatment a few weeks ago. I stayed in hospital for four days whilst having the Obinutuzumab. I had a bad reaction during my first infusion, but the nursing team sorted me out. No other side effects.
Starting the Venetoclax this morning.

Hi,
When I started Obinutuzumab I was in the hospital overnight. My first infusion went very well and very slow. I had a slight reaction. But the nurses are there with you. I also received steroids and Benadryl. If you have a reaction they will stop and give you medication and start again when you’re ready. Going in I was ready but really nervous. I was nervous shaking waiting for bad reactions but they never came. From that point on all the infusions went well. I just finished my Venetoclax yesterday. My 1 year treatment went very fast and pretty smoothly.
Wishing you the best of luck! You got this!

I started treatment 3 weeks ago. The first infusion dose is split over 2 days. You will have pre meds (steroids and antihistamine) to counter known possible reactions one hour before Obi. Not everyone has a reaction and if you do it will almost certainly only occur on day one. I had a reaction but it was under control in minutes. The second day in hospital is to administer the remainder of the first dose. The infusions are slow and will likely take 6 to 7 hours. Take a good book!My lymph nodes disappeared within days of day 2 treatment. I’m due to start V next week and am so impressed with blood and lymph nodes already. Good luck! I hope you’re as impressed with the results as I and many members have been with this combo.
I was not hospitalized, but was kept under very close observation during and following my infusions. I had no infusion reaction but did develop somewhat chronic diarrhea from Venetoclax which was managed with the help of an amazing staff dietitian/nutritionist. I am now uMRD and my digestive issues resolved completely within two weeks of stopping Venetoclax. Best of luck on this journey - we are so fortunate to have these newer treatment options.
I came and went after my treatments with ease, however, you are an individual under the care of a doctor.
The doctor should help you determine the measure for monitoring you.
All the best.
