It looks certain that we immunocompromised, along with some other high risk groups, will be offered a booster in the autumn. UK that is. I'll accept for sure, even though I don't know my antibody response to the first two shots, or what the booster would add if anything.

Far less certain is whether we will be offered "passive protection" in the form of monoclonal antibodies pre-infection. The evidence is in for efficacy and safety, but cost may curb the government's generosity: £1-2,000 compared with £ 5-30 for two shots of vaccine.

Legally and as reflected in our community guidelines, providing a copy of the entire article should only be done with the agreement of the copyright owner. That's why it's best to just give the main takeaway points and/or reference the source material if that's freely available. (Entire newspaper articles might have been copied previously, but we'd rather charity donations go to supporting people with CLL, rather than legal fees )

In your first sentences, try to provide some context for your post. Then members can quickly decide if they can help you, or are interested in reading your referenced article.

Unfortunately, when we have signed up to a subscription service, we can easily forget that others may not subscribe. Also sometimes the subscription service provides some articles that aren't pay-walled. Some subscription services just request you create a free account for access - and again we forget/can't easily see that we are signed in. Just snaring a sentence or two helps us decide if we might want to pay for access to that article, or search for freely available information on what was shared.

Although the Times article starts with mention of the Zoe study into waning antibody levels in the vaccinated, the headline indicates that the main interest is the preliminary results of the Octave trial, also reported elsewhere, e.g.

Further details of the Octave results are on the Birmingham Uni website, which refers to a MedRxiv preprint if you want to dive even deeper.

Today we hear of a new study to assess the effectiveness of booster vax in immunocompromised people.

Thank you. I can read the pharmatimes piece but not the Independent (also subscription only). I’m about to get my second Pfizer dose and am very interested in the possibility of a booster shot.

I don't think anybody can be sure of how much vaccine-induced immunity wanes , or whether it wanes at all. I've read about other studies that say it can last as long as a few years. This is the type of conflicting information pushed by supposed to be experts that fuels the anti-vaccine anti-establishment propaganda. Who is right and who is wrong I have no idea. But it certainly seems like nobody has any idea either.
