Just published: Chaya Venkat doesn't recommend it.

Do you have any later update to this analysis from 3rd September last year?

"The experiment was performed on monkey cells in test tubes, and the dose of ivermectin used was a lot higher than has ever been given to a human.6-8

More work needs to be done; first, to see if ivermectin works on the SARs-CoV-2 virus in humans, and second, to see if there is an effective dose that is also safe.

:

There are some media reports about health professionals in Australia and overseas having ‘success’ using ivermectin as part of COVID-19 treatment. There are also preliminary trial results that suggest no benefit from this medicine,or possibly a shorter hospital stay.

At the moment, publicly available details about these cases and trials are limited or have not been peer-reviewed (looked at carefully by experts to make sure the data has been analysed correctly and completely)."

Here's an article from Medscape describing the NIH dropping it's recommendation against ivermectin on January 14. medscape.com/viewarticle/94...

Here is the NIH's COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines Panel’s Statement on

the Use of Ivermectin for the Treatment of COVID-19: files.covid19treatmentguide...

Recommendation

• The COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines Panel (the Panel) has determined that currently there are insufficient data to recommend either for or against the use of ivermectin for the treatment of COVID-19. Results from adequately powered, well-designed, and well-conducted clinical trials are needed to provide more specific, evidence-based guidance on the role of ivermectin for the treatment of COVID-19.

The group promoting ivermectin has a response to the NIH statement on their website, covid19criticalcare.com/

I think this Canadian infectious disease physician summed it up nicely:

"I would love nothing else for this pandemic to end with ivermectin, seriously- it's a cheap, safe, and globally available drug. And i'm looking forward to the many trials coming about, hopefully as a real RCT, and if there is a signal incorporating it into SOLIDARITY. But for now - I'd make sure everyone does their own appraisal. This is complete echoes of what happened in hydroxychloroquine - where people raced to prescribe it offline, rather than study it in trials. There is a higher standard here for all." twitter.com/zchagla/status/...
