I received an email from Dana Farber with a link to a web page regarding the new Covid Vaccine. I figured many of you would like access to this web page to see what Dana Farber is saying about all of us in different stages of our treatment or non treatment for our CLL. This is the link:
I got lucky yesterday and went online to Publix.com at 6 am. Publix in the US is offering the first and later on the second dose of the Moderna Vaccine. To qualify you must be 65 or older, a patient care person, or a resident of a Nursing Facility. I qualified being older than 65, and got lucky with an appointment for today at 9:48 am. My second dose will be Feb 18 at the same time. All slots for every Publix in South Florida filled up within the first hour or so online, so it was fortunate I got up early enough to be clicking to refresh the page every ten seconds starting at 6 am.
It is now a little over two hours later and so far so good. No soreness or ache in the arm, but I guess it is still too early. I saw the link to article I'm providing when I got home and read it, and you will see they are in favor of taking it when made available. They do raise some exceptions to that rule, so check it out.

I was up at 6am as well. Didn't get appt. But luckily heard from the county today and I can get my shot tomorrow at a park! I do not know which kind yet. Glad u were able to get thru. It was a huge disappointing system for most.
I'm in Lake Worth FL, and my first two attempts for Publix near me failed, but then my third effort for one in a place called Greenacres worked. Then I repeated the whole thing for my wife, within ten minutes after I finished mine. My first two efforts with her found all of Lake Worth gone, all of Boynton Beach gone, and I got lucky with a Publix in East Delray Beach
If I didnt start at 6am i never would have had a chance. They open again Friday morning at 6am
I'm happy I did this, and I'm hoping to get the second shot. Even though it is scheduled, we never know if the vaccine will be delivered to them.
Overall though I'm somewhat sad, because I have pretty low IGg and IGa and IGm. From what I've read they figure our immune systems won't respond that much, so I guess we won't build much antibodies. Still I figure if it helps even a little it is worth having it.
I am in Jupiter and going to Lake Worth Prince Park for my shot! I waited 90 min trying on Publix site. It was awful. So glad it worked for you! I plan to get the spike antibody test after shots to see how my body responded. 💕💉
I missed getting an appointment in my state by about 15 minutes. The state texted me I was eligible, I called hubby to make sure he got FIL registered (which he did, yay, he dropped everything) but I had to wait about 15 mins before trying to register & by then all slots were filled.
😠 we’re told to avoid stress! I imagine we are practicing our patience quite a bit now.Here in south Louisiana, it’s been difficult, too. I called my hematologist’s office, got a central switchboard at his affiliated hospital. My message for him was, it has been a circus online and by phone to get an appointment. Tell my doctor, I have stopped trying and will wait for someone to call me,
The operator responded, I couldn’t do that, no one will call me. I repeated my message for the doctor. She then said, “Hold on, I will find you an appointment. SHE DID! It’s a month away, but go figure that one out!!! Sandra 🤔
