I had a horrible reaction to the combination of coq10 and ibrutinib. It seems that coq10 is an inducer, and it caused me to be off the wall in terms of being hyper, nervous, and agitated. Don’t know what kind of reaction anyone might have, but before taking any vitamins or supplements, I’d recommend looking at a list of inducers and inhibitors, which can be found online. Just my two cents.

My Dr put me on COQ10 when I began taking a statin drug for high cholesterol. He said the statin depletes it from your body and this puts it back. I am 15 years CLL w&w and I have never had a bad reaction to the COQ10. Been on it for many years. Not sure if it would have any reaction if taking other drugs for CLL

It's true that one must be careful adding inducers or inhibitors to any drug regimen. If one is already stabilized on an inducer or inhibitor, and starts treatment, it's best to inform your docs if you want to stop taking the inducer/inhibitor. Not everyone reacts, but obviously people can and do so it's better to be safe than sorry. Re:statins/CoQ 10, it's recommended (in the US, at least) that every patient on a statin take CoQ 10. It just goes to show, we need to be careful taking any kind of OTC medicine or supplements when we are in treatment. Many of the vitamins/minerals/supplements do not interact medication, but since everyone is different it's always best to check with your provider before deciding to add something,

My hematologist said today: "Yes take CoQ10 ! We recommend it ! I am 86, CLL under near perfect control with IMBRUVICA 420 . But I check with a pharmacist of the cancer clinic to make certain it would not interfere with other RX I am taking.

I was on CoQ10 before I started my CLL treatment(venetoclax and Gazyva). My specialist stopped it initially but said it was ok to start back on it about a month ago. I’ve been on it since and have had no issues. I’m on 100mg venetoclax daily and monthly Gazyva infusions.Keith
