Lymph Nodes or Hernia?

Greetings everyone. Its been a while since I have posted. I have a follow up with my doctor on the 22nd and 29th of this month. Recently I noticed a bump grow in the area of my pelvis(bread basket) area. Its freaking me out. Apart from that, I feel healthy, no other symptoms. But has anyone else experience nodes coming and going? Should I be concerned? Could it be something else? I know I will get the results from my doctor but in the meantime, I am concerned.

Hello Jay. If you search the site you will probably find literally dozens of posts from members expressing concern about a node popping up somewhere.

The answer is usually the same. No one can say if your "bump" is a cll node. But since it is in an area where you have lymph glands and where cll nodes can pop up, and since you have cll, cll has to be the prime suspect.

You should let your doctor know. Nodes can come and go. And we can have nodes come and go for many years before needing treatment.

Should you be concerned? Well I think that's natural you would be and certainly you should have your doctor check it out. But these type nodes do come with the territory of having cll, if that's what your bump is, and in and of itself is not necessarily that big a deal. If you get to the point you need treatment, a drug like ibrutinib can melt that node away in no time.

Yes, I have experienced this. You need to get checked out by a doctor. A physical examination will easily determine if it is a lymph node or inguinal hernia -- not rocket science in the scheme of things.

I have an inguinal hernia which at times protrudes through a weak spot in the abdominal muscles. I got checked out by a surgeon. He also looked at my annual CT scan. It was not dangerous as it would retract. My instructions are to call his emergency number if it does not retract and he will immediately operate. The hernia can become incarcerated and then it becomes life-threatening. He also found a Hiatal Hernia. It sucks getting old. I have pasted a link to the Mayo Clinic.
