good news and bad news

Good news & bad news today . I had my rutine blood sample taken yesterday and Dr called me today instead going to the Clinic .My inmunoglobulins have risen ( specially IGA which was a little low and now close to normal ) WCC is normal as it has been for several months...... but my hematocrit and Hemglobin have risen so she ordered some other tests.....

Any Thoughts or experience with this ? I don´t have the exact numbers i think she told me 19 Hb and 54 or 51 % HCT but not sure till i get the printed results. I was a little worried about this.

Regarding cll and covid she told me that there were not much cases arround the world involving cll + coronavirus .So not much information about cll being specially risky ( of course this is not an affirmation , just no enough data) . We also discused Ibrutinib as possibly helping avoiding Cytokine storm which las led to many deaths in covid worse scenario .

Hi antonb.

There are a number of reasons for what looks like a raised Hb (19) and Hct...

Important rule, repeat the test. Other full blood picture indices also important.

Then look at past results to check out any trend.

Other basic tests needed. Renal, liver etc. Probably your haamatinics too.

Are you well, smoker...? Dehydrated? Any issues with CO in your home, car etc.

Keep an eye on the wider picture.

the trend has been slowly increasing in the last months , but always in between the limits,( last one was 16.9 ) Dr ordered EPO and some other tests . I will have results in 15 days

Hard to know what's going on until you get those other test results but it's certainly reached the point where it needs thorough investigation.

I hope you get the answers you need soon.
