Azacitidine and Venclexta

I am new to this forum. After having been on Azacitidine for over 3 years, a couple of weeks ago my doctor added Venclexta with a short ramp-up .. 100mg..200mg..300mg..400mg. I am very curious about the experience people have had with this combination. How fast did you see results? Have there been any side effects? How long have you been on Venclexta?

Azacitidine is used to treat myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), mayoclinic.org/diseases-con...

which cause anaemia and low platelets. It's not a drug I've heard coupled with other CLL treatment drugs like Venetoclax/Venclexta. So I suspect you are unlikely to get answers to your specific question, but should get answers from other members who have gone through the Venclexta ramp up process.

How are your blood counts now? Venclexta, like all CLL treatment drugs, can suppress bone marrow production, with neutropenia the most common impact on blood counts.

Neil... thank you for your response. The use of Azacitidine combined with Vidaza has just been approved for certain MDS patients that are transitioning to AML so ther is not a lot of experiences to draw from. You are correct. In my case all my counts are low and are pushed lower every cycle of Chemo and then recovers between cycles, my count ranges are (WBC - .4 - 1.2 , ANC - .2-.6, RBC - 2.3-3.1, Platelets- 10-29 and Hemiglobin - 6-8. I am on prophylactic Anti-virals, anti-fungals and anti-biotics. The use of Venclexta, in the short term is expected to further reduce the counts until it starts to work. I'm trying to find out how long that might be?

I'm sorry to read of the difficult situation you are in. I'm also sorry to inform you that this community will be of limited use to you with your MDS and AML diagnosis, because the only commonality is our shared use of a very powerful drug, Venetoclax. Unfortunately I doubt you'll obtain any responses from members who have experience with using Venetoclax to manage MDS

I don't know if you have come across this trial or even if you are on it! There was an update at ASH 2019, which I hope you can find.
