Has anyone on here claimed personal independence payment for cll?

i actually looked this up. They do not give it to you based on a disease but based on how disease affects you. A person is evaluated then based on evaluation may or may not get it.

I votedfornixon is quite right about this and it’s a difficult benefit to obtain. The criteria is based in the need for help at least half the time for the following (taken from the Gov website);

‘Daily living difficulties

You may get the daily living part of PIP if you need help more than half of the time with things like:

preparing or eating food

washing, bathing and using the toilet

dressing and undressing

reading and communicating

managing your medicines or treatments

making decisions about money

engaging with other people

Mobility difficulties

You may get the mobility part of PIP if you need help going out or moving around.’

It’s based on the functional difficulties any condition creates and not just the actual name of the illness. The exception to this is automatic qualification under the Special Rules for terminally ill people with an expectation of less than 6 months survival.

Co-morbidities that impact on and exacerbate the CLL may assist the claim.

It’s always worth applying but it’s a pretty torturous process in reality leading usually to a personal assessment.

Your local Citizens Advice may be able to assist with the application if necessary.

Professionally and personally I’ve filled in scores and it’s becoming harder and harder to get!

Best wishes,

This is an excellent self assessment for PIP that’s worth working through to gauge personal eligibility. My proviso would be that our personal assessment doesn’t always accord with the assessors and there’s been times I’ve been mystified at how they’ve calculated such low scores on areas of particular need for people. I’d always urge applicants to appeal if they’re turned down because there’s a reasonable success rate for the appeals process.
