Toronto is closer to me than many other places that hold lymphoma seminars. Do I need a passport to cross into Canada?

I'm pretty certain you will need a passport to re-enter the USA.

Until the 2000s a birth certificate etc. was enough, but with all the issues with insurgents trying to enter the USA, the rules were made much tighter in the last 20 years.

The Canadian health system makes treatments and diagnosis different in several ways so you may want to look for online and in person seminars via the CLL Society, Patient Power and the LLS. Each has an email distribution list you can join and see their calendars.
