Platlet count of 132 should I worry
Don't worry! Our blood counts jump all over the place! And going from 136 to 132 is nothing. Mine have gone from 173 to 153 to 213. It's perfectly normal. What's important is watching the trends of your bloodwork. That gives you a much better idea of what your CLL is doing.
Not at all, that’s quite a good number. My husbands dropped to 3 at one point, now that was cause for concern. Still only about 62 but remained stable for a while so not worried.
Cll doctors start to have concerns when your platelets drop below 100. Even then, if they are 100, or even below, and stable, one could go a long time before needing treatment.
So I wouldn’t choose the word “worry” to talk about platelets of 132. And the fluctuation you had was so small it was meaningless.
That said, your platelets are just below low normal and your labs bear watching over the coming months and years to see if your platelets trend down and at what rate. Cll cells can clog up your spleen and that’s where platelets can get trapped and destroyed. The good news is that with treatment that trend can be reversed. Mine dropped to 80 at their lowest and are in low normal range now at 150.
Mine have been averaging anywhere from 110 to 141. Nothing to worry about yet.
Hi flagirl19!
No need to worry.
cajunjeff is spot on.
I would add - while your absolute numbers are fine - watch the trend over time - blood results can drift up and down. Bit sneaky - can be missed.
I record all my results.
...and a case in point - next time you get a full blood count result - look at the "MCV" number. Unrelated to CLL - mine had drifted up. My GP took bloods for B12 Folate and Ferritin (iron) - and found I had Haemochromatosis! Now being treated and all well - but for the fact that my Family Doc was watching ALL my numbers trending - I may not have been diagnosed. Iron does not very nice things to the body at high levels. The irony - but for my CLL the iron overload would not have been diagnosed till too late... Thank you CLL!
I would add - if you really pushed your Drs - platelet levels below 30 will get the medics worried. 30 - 99 you want to be asking why, get repeat checks and seek expert advice.

My wife is having a lymph node surgically removed this morning. Her platelets are 111 - the surgeon said this is not a problem.
My platelets have been slowly trending down over 3 1/2 years. When I hit 130 I was alarmed but my CLL doctor said they expect CLL patients to hit around 100 +/- and remain there for quite a while, stabilizing. My next draw 6 months later had me at 165 and I did not expect that bounce since the trend had been downwards. My takeaway was to not worry about being around 100.
My count is 142,000 now, and my dr. said it shouldn't be 100,000 before treatment.
