Anyone on Eliquis and ibrutinib, or other CLL med?

I've read a Mayo Clinic article discussing the use of ibrutinib and blood thinners due to afib, re-introducing ibrutinib at 280 mg dosage. Frequent monitoring is required. I'm wondering about other CLL meds and Eliquis-type Rx as I'll soon have to make this decision.

I'm not on Eliquis, however the Rivaroxaban prescribed for me following two major pulmonary embolisms last summer was changed to a daily injection of heparin after I started Ibrutinib. My only problem is small bleeds and heavy bruising at the injection sites. Any other side effects from Ibrutinib are masked by the fact that I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. Digestive problems, muscle and joint pains and cramping, as well as many other issues are normal for me. As a result I probably don't notice any difference!

I take the full amount of Ibrutinib and 5mg twice daily of Eliquis for AF and have done since starting on Ibrutinib in March 2018. So far the only episode of bleeding was from a bladder infection which cleared up very quickly.

I was on Pradaxa twice daily for afib along with the lesser dosage 140mg of Ibrutinib for a number of months until I had cardiac ablation to try and correct the afib. I stopped the Pradaxa 2 days prior to procedure but still bled quite a bit at catheter site. Other than that I had not had any problems with the blood thinner and Ibrutinib combo. My oncologist wasn't keen on me being on a blood thinner and Ibrutinib so he was supportive of my decision to have the ablation. Wearing a heart monitor now and after 10 days have had no events without the heart meds.

I was on 420 mg imbruvica and taking eliquis due to AFIB. Then was reduced to 280 mg Imbruvica due to severe joint paint and leg pain. Then I made appointment with a CLL specialist and after two visits he put me on Acalabrutinib 100 mg twice a day. I have had no symptoms of AFIB, caught when EKG was performed. Have been on Acalabrutinib a little over two months and doing good. Saw cardiologist for two 3 month check ups and now scheduled not to see him for six months.

I am on IB now for more than 4 years, 420 a day for most of that (280 for a month or two at the start due to low platelets and low hemoglobin). A year and a half on Eliquis 5mg. X 2 when afib was diagnosed. No major bleeds. As paroxysmal afib increased and PAC's (premature atrial contractions) became more bothersome, I chose cryoablation a month ago. Too soon to be sure, but I think it is working. However, the procedure caused an esophageal ulcer. Three days in hospital. Healed by itself. GP and I agreed to lower Eliquis dose (I am 78 and a half and creatinine is 1.7 so this is general prescription dosage advice) to 2.5 mg. X 2.

Bottom line: IB and Eliquis were not a problem for me even at full dose.
