I have been taking 81mg enteric aspirin for years. My doctor and pharmacist said it was Ok to take while on Ibrutinib.

Is anyone else taking aspirin?

Take your doctors guidance if this is from your treating CLL hemaetologist and an oncology pharmacist , not your GP or the guy at CVS, or Walgreens... What does your cardiologist advise?

I was on Xarelto and Imbruvica (ibrutinib) and it was a mess...

Dr. Brown stated...

If ibrutinib is uniquely the best option, then I evaluate the true necessity of the anticoagulation or dual-antiplatelet therapy. I also suggest that all patients stop vitamin E, fish oils, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, as in the ibrutinib clinical trials, and if on aspirin, consider stopping or reducing to the lowest available dose.

Advice is from my chemo pharmacist and hemaetologist.

Thank you

Just monitor yourself for petechia and bleeding in the waste streams...

I was told to stop taking it. the issue is more your platelet count then the imbruvica per se.

Its not about platelet numbers, but numbers play a role, its about TEC kinase being effected by ibrutinib, off target.. and a low von Willebrand factor (VWF) activity or factor VIII levels.

Both reduce clumping... and platelet function, hence bleeding.

I do have petechiae and bruising. My doctor knows that.

I was on low dose aspirin and allowed to stay on it, however, on the third day of taking Imbruvica 420 I developed two very large Petechiae on the calf of my left leg one the size of a grapefruit and the other the size of a small orange. My CLL specialist called my cardiologist and they agreed I should stop the low dose aspirin as my platelet count was 70. I have had no further issue. I would just be very watchful. 🙏💕😍☘️

Wow, thanks for the advice. I do have a lot of bruising. Platelets were normal last blood work. Tomorrow I have another draw.

My CLL specialist took me off it when I started Ibrutinib.

Thanks. I wonder if the Ibrutinib has smiliar chemical make up for stroke protection. I have been taking Aspirin for years.

Recently released info says to get off aspirin even without being on IB.

How do we protect ourselves from strokes?

If you don’t have heart disease and are over 70 the new advice is to get off it but not suddenly.

But your Dr. should understand that and advise you.

Bleeding and IB can be a problem.

"Ibrutinib has mild anti-coagulant effect essentially equivalent to 325mg of aspirin."
