Has any doctor linked CLL to any genetic variant?

Does anyone know where they are doing the most research on CLL in or out if the US?

CLL is a very complex illness in regard to the many genetic factors influencing progression and likely response to different treatments - its an area of research that is still being actively explored. That's also why patient outcomes are so heterogeneous.

The common genetic abnormalities are determined via a FISH test, with more exhaustive genetic testing available from research centres conducting clinical trials. There are lots of posts on this research, mainly by our top poster Cllcanada: HealthUnlocked.com/user/cll... .

in the USA, M D Anderson is probably doing more research in this area than elsewhere, but there are plenty of research centres working on this in the USA and internationally, with research in Spain also cutting edge.

Germany, Spain, Greece and Sweden are leaders in CLL genetics with major input by the Italian, Brits and many others. The Chinese have recently started studies and new drug development. Australia has been long involved in research.

Europe tends to focus on the pure science though their universities, where as the U.S. tends to focus more on treatments due to drug company involvement, huge numbers comparitively, that enable many clinical trials.

Both approaches are required and this is a huge generalization...

For example Drs. Landau and Catherine Wu, at Dana Farber uncovered the entire field of clonal evolution.. in CLL ... and why it changes over time.

Susan Sager at the Mayo Clinic, heads a worldwide effort to unwrap the generics involved in Familial CLL, and why Ashkenazi Jewish ethnicity plays an ongoing role.

Richard Houlston in London, studies possible genes that are passed down from our parents. The current theory is we have a genetic predisposition to CLL, and something in the environment triggers it, like organophosphates, benzene, radiation exposure, black hair dye, being tall, Agent orange... and so on and so on.

So, like nearly everything in CLL there is no one right answer, but likey 20 right answers to any question...

In general some correction DNA might be lacking thus the Bcell maybe more likely to mutate.

Maybe similar to BRCA1/2 for Bcell.

This is a very general statement though.

I eat vegan , try to get plenty or exercise and get plenty of sleep to hopefully help the Immune system keep my Bcells next line...:). This a a very general statement as well.
