Hi I am 19 year old female. I have an enlarged lymph node (this is what the doctor said it is) on the left side of my groin, at first in wasn't painful but after a couple days it got worse and is now enlarged and very painful. I also have skin ringworm that is all over my body: arms, back, spot on neck, spot on belly, spot on groin, and the worst is on the legs. My doctor said this is why my lymph node is enlarged. Got put on an antibiotic (Terbinafine HCL) and a couple days later now I think there's a swollen lymph node on the right side of my groin. I also feel slight pain in the thigh around the lymph node, almost like a shooting pain. The pain is so bad. Everytime I move I feel pain. Even just sitting. Standing and walking is the worst, I almost can't stand it. Very concerned and worried and my anxiety doesn't help!!! 😓

Hi Worried-chick, you obviously don’t have a diagnosis of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia and at your age it’s virtually unheard of in case that’s your concern.
It sounds like your doctor has identified the reason for your swollen lymph nodes and I’d urge you to continue and persevere with the treatment. I can appreciate this is distressing to you but ringworm, liver flukes, malaria, giardia are all examples of parasitic infections that may lead to swollen lymph nodes.
This will pass and your anxiety is making everything feel worse. I can well believe you are imagining all sorts of sinister illnesses when you actually have something that can be treated.
Please see your doctor for pain relief and explain your health anxieties.
This is a blood cancer site and not the right place for you (I’m glad to say).
Best wishes,
Newdawn
Hi Newdawn. That does make sense. I am just really concerned. I keep googling about this and always think of the worst case scenario which probably doesn't help my anxiety :/ but I will definitely do that and go back to the doctor. Thank you!
