Hi Azharkhan,

There are quite a few different blood cancers which young people can have. Without knowing which blood cancer your sister has, along with a lot more information, it is impossible to answer your question.

This community supports those with a chronic blood cancer, where the average age of diagnosis is 71, so we don't have relevant experience to help you and your sister, sadly. There is some good news in that blood cancers in younger people have a very high cure rate.

Azharkhan - I know that you are very frightened about your sister's illness, but this site deals with a specific blood cancer called CLL - Chronic Lymphotic Leukemia. It would be very unusual for a 12 year old to have CLL, and members here would not have experience with her cancer, if that is the diagnosis. If she has a blood cancer it is more likely to be AML or ALL.

If you send me a private message (called chat at the top of the page) with a little more information about where you are and any other details about what the doctors have told your family I can perhaps connect you with a group that would be better able to help you. My cousin's son had AML, and while he was ill I learned about some of the better resources.

Just click on my name, and then message.
