Painful Lymph Nodes For Two Years

Hello everyone! I’m new to this forum. I’ve suffered from extreme health anxiety my entire life. Two years ago I noticed a painful, swollen and a bit stiff of a lymph node right below my ear. I had it checked out but no one was concerned. The pain eventually stopped but I still notice a small amount of tenderness from time to time if I touch it. Since then I’ve noticed a couple times where I’ve felt different painful lymph nodes in my neck but they’ve never really been swollen and the pain goes away. Yesterday I noticed pain in the front of my neck, almost under my chin but a bit lower. It kind of feels like a lymph node but I can’t even really tell because there doesn’t seem to be swelling. All I know it that it’s tender and hurts worse if I mess with it. I just made such a fit about painful lymph nodes when this happened two years ago and other than this I feel completely fine. Any advice on why I always have these random lymph node pains? Keep in mind I don’t have a cold or any sort of viral infection that I’m aware of. Thank you!

If you are always probing your neck, you could be irritating the nodes. Nodes swell and retract normally all the time as part of a normal and HEALTHY immune system. Try not to worry too much about it. If you are overly concerned. ask your doctor if he/she thinks an ultrasound would be warranted in your case.
