Hello, I recently got admitted to the hospital for fever, and I had 143 of platelet count and in the next day report I had 57, the very next day I had again 163 then the doctors said 57 report is wrong. It is correct or really can anyone has a sudden platelet drop like that??

I have had similar situations, platelet counts can be hard to get.. also patelets like to hang out in the spleen, for a bit sometimes... exercise can impact counts etc... look for trends in all blood work, not test to test comparisons.

Hope you are feeling better.😄

I maintain a graph that plots all blood readings that are important to me - platelets, LDH, IgG. This helps me to spot trends and (hopefully) ignore inaccurate readings.

It was probably a small clot in the sample which wiped out half the platelets in the tube. As Chris says, trends are important not individual results.
