It has been almost two year since treated with FR, and gradually my platelets are down, now at 50.
I wonder if something is affecting my remission, since I have been drinking a lot of green tea.
Which food or drinks are affecting platelets count?
I do not drink any alcohol at all, but I drink green tea, I add flax seed to my breakfast cereal, and I am using almost milk instead of cow milk,

You will notice coffee is #10, and it says coffee decreases platelets because of the phenolic acid in it. I know that green tea is also very high in phenolic compounds.
The most important thing is what does your Dr say and does he have a plan? Does he feel this is signs of bone marrow damage due to FCR or a slow relapse of your CLL?
You don't say anything about your other results but you many need a bone marrow biopsy to be sure of the cause.
They could also be low because of immune thrombocytopenia and again a bone marrow would be able to discriminate between the various causes.
re the WikiHow list I would be sceptical about many of them on the list. Some of the things listed will affect platelet function but, for example, if coffee decreased platelets then many people who drink a lot of coffee would have low platelets and we'd know about it.
Please discuss the low platelets with your Dr and let us know what s/he says.

Platelet counts and aggregation are two different things...although the results may be the same...
As Chris says platelet aggregation and platelet reduction are completely different things.
So, as I said, if coffee caused low platelets we would all know about it and consultants would be asking their patients about their coffee consumption!
True. I suspect the WikiHow list got it wrong and confused platelet aggregation with platelet reduction. I see that confusion a lot of places.

My condition is quite stable, I had a tomography, and there is some sign of remision, there is no increase in swallowed lymphatic gangles.
My only problems seems to be the platelets.
Two days ago I have completely quit Green tea, just a meager coffee cup in the morning, and I will make a new hemogram at the beginning of following month.
During my chemoterapy time, I was fine, since I completely quit coffee, in order to sleep better.
But after the treatment, I came back to my job, at sea, I am a Seafarer, and I need to drink a lot of coffee, in order to be awake, and I noticed, when making CBC, that platelets were down.

I have to agree with jm! You need to discuss all of the possible causes for your platelet count with your doctor. Be sure to include any supplements you are taking, as well as your green tea consumption. Please let us know what your doctor has to say. If you aren't getting answers, find another doctor! Is your current doctor a CLL specialist?

Unfortunately, my Doctor is an Hematologist- Oncologist, which work in a Cancer Treatment Center, where all decisions are taken by a Committee of Doctors, she is not an CLL escialist.
I am Caribbean Island Resident, and I wonder if there is anybody in the Island.
l should travel to U.S. in order to get an specialist.
