Yes - we should keep up to date with all non-live vaccinations. Read this post: healthunlocked.com/cllsuppo...

I've been trying to get a pneumonia jab for almost a year, but each time I've rung my GP to book it I get told they don't have it in. Recent I spoke to the nurse giving out flu jabs about this & she told me they only get 20 or so in from time to time & it's issued on a first come first served basis, so to have a chance of getting one I'll have to ring up the Doc's every week (20 to 30 mins on the phone) & hope they have some in.

One of the downsides of the NHS.

I had a similar problem. The way it was resolved was when I talked to my consultant about it, and she wrote a note to my GP that I needed this and why, and shortly after the GP surgery *rang me* to make an appointment! Hope it works for you.

Thanks, I was thinking of mentioning it at my next hospital appointment in Jan & now I'll make sure I do.

Hi My partner has Mantel Cell Lymphoma and always has the flu vaccine, especially with low immune system, he needs to have it. I would assume if your immune system is also low it would be a good idea for you to have it too.

Prevnar13 and Pneumovax23 are safe pneumonia vaccines, and are very important to have for CLL patients..

I think you may have confused the Shingles vaccine which is a live vaccine and not suitable for CLL patients...

If Chris has guessed incorrectly, have your doctor look up the CDC recommendations for immune compromised patients, as you are in the US. They will support Chris's statement.
