My sister is not a full tissue match so a search started last Wednesday and already 4 potential donors found. All young males which apparently are the best, 1 UK, 3 German. They will be all approached to take new samples to carry out a "high resolution" test to check which is the best match. Should know more in 6 weeks but looking really hopeful.

It's not till you need the help that you realise what a great thing the donor network do. I am pleased to say that, thanks to friends and family, another couple of hundred people have since joined the registry.

It feels a bit ironic that I joined the Anthony Nolan drive many years ago, and used to collect printer refills for them when at work. You never know what's round the corner, and thank goodness for that!
