First of all, thank you for all of the replies to my first post. As I stated before, my doctor told my at my yearly physical that my WBC and Lymphocytes were elevated (22k/18k). Up from 15k/9k a year and a half ago. He decided to take another blood sample right there in the office and send it for more testing. The report said CBC with differential platelet and Flow Cytometry-PNH. He said he would call me in a couple of days. This was Monday morning and it is Friday and still no word. Just wondering why the delay?

I have been investigating if any of my prior habits and health conditions could contribute to my count. I have bad hayfever (ragweed season), Irritable Bowel Syndrome, I chew tobacco (bad habit I know...trying to quit). I have read that all of these could contribute to elevated counts.

Anyway, I guess no news is better than bad news. Just wondering why I haven't received any update at all.

Thanks again and have a great weekend!

And....all of my other counts (RBC, HGB, etc..) have actually increased further into normal ranges over this year and a half time. (they have never been low) Have no idea if this matters at all... Looking at "doubling time" of ALC looks like around 20 months.

Hi there,

It's unfortunate that you didn't get a call when promised. I would call them first thing on Monday if I were you. I don't know what country or state you're in, and every medical system is a bit different. But if they said it would be a couple days and you haven't heard back, it's worth calling them. That's the only way I've been able to get any info. If I waited for them, I'd still be waiting!

If you actually get diagnosed with CLL, it's generally known to be slow growing (indolent). So please take a breath and be sure to follow up with the doc's office. We'll be here to help you process when you get some solid info.

Hang in there!

Ya...really there is not much concern in Absolute Lymphocyte Count [ALC] counts until they get over the 30K mark, then they follow the doubling time... but it is just one factor in many...

Quit the chew... if you want to do something to improve your overall health. It will come back and bite you in the ass-ets... more likely the colon...

I just had a third of my colon removed... it wasn't much fun frankly...
