So far so good. My neutrophils vary from 1.9 to 5.0. I asked my consultant to explain this. Unfortunately She was not prepare do give an explanation. She told me :do not worry. Has anybody the same problem. Kind regards Emma

Neutrophils are the most common white blood cell type (about two thirds) in healthy individuals.  The amount varies with infections and can bounce around considerably.  That's why we should look at our absolute lymphocyte count (ALC) rather than our White Blood Cell count to track our CLL.

Your neutrophil count (ANC) is good, staying in the normal range of 1.8 to 7.5, so your specialist wouldn't be at all concerned about it.

Dear Neil, thank you so much for your reply. Next time I shall ask for ALC.

I do get a print out stating WBC, Haemoglobin, Platlets etc. but no ANC or ALC. I always have to ask for ANC and liver function etc.

kind regards

Emma

Hi Emma, I have been on Idelalisib for 16 months, and my neutrophils have been fairly constant between 1.7 and 2.3. As Neil has said they do bounce around a little so nothing to be concerned about. Keep taking the tablets and keep well.

Emma,

I agree with Neil & Battam -- the Neutrophil counts do bounce about so don't worry.

BUT...

It is more worrying that your Consultant would not give you an explanation. If I raise ANY concern about anything relating to CLL and its effect on my body then my Consultants will take the time to make sure I have an understanding before I leave.!!

Perhaps its because there is a team of CLL Consultants who run an "open appointment system." where visits are not timed.

Also if I have any concerns or worrying symptoms between appointments I can either contact my Specialist Nurse OR a CLL hot line -- and my GP Surgery is aware of my condition in an emergency!

Regards,

Marty
