Greetings Fellow CLLers

Im interested if anyone especially in Australia have a travel insurance that they've used that insures pre existing medical conditions? Especially CLL!

I would be grateful for any info advice etc

Hi Sheila, if you have the complimentary travel insurance through your credit card you can apply to have CLL listed as a pre existing illness, although I don't know at what point they would knock you back. Both my sister and myself have CLL both W and W and have been approved for cover for two months from this month travelling around Europe. We had to supply doctors records but it was all relatively easy. Cost $150. I wasn't going to bother as I feel really well but then thought if I get food poisoning or the flu and need a doctor didn't want the insurer to say..Ahh but you are immune compromised and that's why you got sick. I Los rand around a few other insurers and most would cover you if you were well and not travelling for treatment.

Good luck, let us know how you go.

Cheers Lynne

Hi Sheila,

QBE ask for a form completed by my GP. It is quite lengthy. I have an annual travel policy so the same form gets filled in every time I renew the policy. Not recommended if your GP is busy.

Hello from Wollongong Sheila,

I have an annual travel insurance with QBE so like your friend Lorraine requires the form filling in though I filled in a lot of it so the doctor didn't have to spend too much time filling in her bit. Last year whilst travelling in Hong Kong I had to have my appendix out - had to spend a week in a private hospital there and they were fantastic. The paid the $30000 directly to the hospital. I always get the annual one - there is a very small difference between annual and a 4 week one so worth checking. cheers Gerry

Really appreciate your experiences with travel ins. Before i got your replies i had to go to Flight Centre to book a return flight to Perth from Singas. whilst there i asked about TI. So ….i signed up with Cover More which seemed expensive to me but no more than the many others i had dealt with online. $570. which means I'm fully covered for all cll. Is that about the going rate for…. in remission, no treatments in the past 12 mnths over 70yrs. criteria? Guess we all have differing stages and ages to consider.

So didn't see all replies. but i will definately look into QBE. Do you ask them for the form online or do they offer it?

Thanks for all your info

Sheila
