Anxiety and hurry up and wait.

This is a link to a website that AusssieNeil located and it has some thoughts on the anxiety of our condition and how we often end up in the ‘Hurry up and Wait’ situation.

‘The doomsday scenarios you conjure up during stressful waiting periods are usually far worse than reality.

Waiting for appointments and test results can turn living with cancer into a full-time occupation and preoccupation. You count the weeks and days until your next appointment’…………continued....………….

Hi some people can deal with waiting hrs at the Dr's or hospital but I find it drains me even though I try not to get stressed about something beyond my control.

Prepare some notes first of what you want to ask then put them to one side somewhere safe.

I now always take my tablet PC with me now to waiting rooms, so the wait is a real luxury to catch up on all the articles I've downloaded and not got round to reading. A good book etc. would do.

That way the "wait" is never long enough, and you start the meeting relaxed.

Make it a chance to unwind.

Hope that might help.

Ernie.
