Why do some postings appear under "Latest activity", but not in "News feed"?

Can anyone explain the difference between "Latest activity" and "News feed"? And why does it sometimes say so-and-so "responded" and sometimes that they "answered". (Apologies if my tiny brain hasn't worked out the obvious)

Hi Paula. News feed contains all activity from all the communities in Health Unlocked to which you belong. Latest activity is from just the community you are currently logged into. This is consistent with the feed and activity pages being provided when you click on the HealthUnlocked menu and the community menu respectively.

The other difference I've noticed with the feed and activity content is that the News feed page filters out your contributions, (I guess you know you responded and that page is likely to have more content if you have multiple memberships) but your contributions appear in the Latest activity page.

I hadn't noticed the 'responded/answered' variation, but looking into it, you 'respond' to a post and you 'answer' a question. There's no other way of differentiating between posts and questions on the activity/feed pages that I can see.

So, now thanks to you, we are all a bit wiser in how this website functions!

Hi Paula. Erm...... I think News Feed is for all the communities that you may belong to, as you can join as many as you like and Latest Activity is just for the community that you have clicked on. As for your other question......dunno....my brain is very teeny.

I see you have not got back to your leaflets......is this a displacement activity??? Lol

I only belong to one community so the 2 places are almost identical for me, but I'd noticed that one of my latest responses only appeared on latest activity, not news feed, so was wondering why. Now I know...

You're right, Sparkler, I didn't get back to the leaflets. And now it's dinner time. And then it will be afternoon sleep time...
