You don't have to be overweight to be unhealthy. Some people are thin on the outside but have fat internally. Whether or not the cholesterol level is anything to worry about depends on other factors. Just knowing the total cholesterol number doesn't give much information. Do you have a breakdown of all the levels?

HI Kaz

Your friend needs to talk to a doctor and have the cause of her high cholesterol investigated. She shouldn't worry, but it's a good idea to get some medical advice. If she used a DIY cholesterol test or had it done in somewhere like a chemist's shop it may not be reliable, so the doctor will probably want to do another test.

hi Kass1234 do you mean cholesterol is 6.8 if so that's ok it could do with coming down a bit i'm double her weight and mine is just lower than her's but i don't think its anything to worry about except her weight how tall is she take care bigalan xx

Hi their Kazz1234 that the problem with smoking it can have an effect on you cholesterol when i smoked my cholesterol was high as soon as i stopped my cholesterol dropped, and at the end of the day its up to your friend if she wants to smoke but there are very big dangers with smoking. i'm glad now its 12 years since i smoked and i used to smoking 40 fags a day and then went from 40 to 0 going cold turkey it was hard but it feels like i've never smoked. anyway how are you doing my friend not heard from you recently hope you well and may i ask at what weight are you now if that's not to rude to asked a young lady take care if you need any help for her with her smoking just let me know and i'll try and help if she wants to quit kindest regards Alan xx

Your friend needs a discussion with her GP. GP needs to check, blood pressure, blood glucose and blood cholesterol and other factors like age, height and weight to work out the rick factor and may be do a rick calculation.

The best option is to make an appointment with GP.
