Tomorrow night on BBC 2, Horizon programme discuss the benefits of health checks including cholesterol. There is an article in today's copy of the Mail, health section giving details of some health checks.

What did you think of the programme Bala? After a dodgy start, I think it went on to be very balanced.

I was touched by the way Michael Mosely reflected on the treatment of his dad's cancer picked up by screening. I thought there were very wise words from the two older doctors who thought we should be treating the sick, not over diagnosing the well.

Yes, a balanced programme with real data from a doctor. I put a new post on risk calculator giving the time from 3 minutes to 6 minutes on BBC2,

Understanding risk calculator can be difficult. At least one can watch the 3 minutes again and again to get a better understanding.

I am not in any hurry to do any more health checks, just go for blood test every six months. As my GP says we are monitoring.

I just watched this and smoking doubled the risk factor! Yet my consultants keep telling me its irrelevant.
