Hi Im new to this group, im a 53yr old lady who has severe spinal/ nerve problems as well as osteoathritis, some 8yrs ago after terrible constipation and a barium xrayvwas told i had a few small pockets of no significance. i was mid 40's then and was told to have senokat nightly.. which uim still on, My tummy makes me look 6 months pregnant, and its rock hard , i have recently started with some strange symptons from a mucus ranging from being clear salmon colour to brown along with weird bowl movements not liquid but soft and bittey, i contacted my GP and hes sending me for lots of blood tests , a stool sample when all results in he will then see me for an examination. But he said it doesnt sound typical Diverticulosis .

Anyone who has knowledge or had same please, any advice will be gratefully received.

Hello caz1967, welcome to you. It certainly seems as if you have an awful lot going on. Diverticulosis is a horrible thing to deal with and my husband Pete has it too but not as badly as you. He feels some of his problems are caused by medication he has to take on a daily basis.

I’m just pleased your GP is listening to you and taking things seriously. Please let us know how things go.

Wishing you well. Xxx

Hi there, Ive just had my biopsy results and they came back clear. However my GP feels the the team at the hospital will give another test, possibly a CT colonoscopy, because the bowl wasn't totally clear as the movi-prep didn't clear me totally, so the consultant didn't get a clear view of the bowl. so the biopsies could of missed any area which didn't look right. Once i know more ill let you all know.Thank you for the care and interest.

Yes I think another test is a good idea Caz just to be completely sure. I do hope everything will be fine. Please do let us know how everything goes. Thinking of you. Take care xxx❤️😍

Hi caz1967 and I'd like to join sassy59 in giving you a warm welcome to the care community. So sorry to hear about your bowel problem. I haven't had to deal with that myself but my sister has, quite recently, and had surgery lately to remove some of the troublesome pockets which had been causing her such distress.I always think it's a little bit annoying when doctors utter statements about what they think it's not, unless they go on to suggest what it might be. Are you worrying about a particular diagnosis, if it's not diverticulosis? I know my sister did, and wasn't happy until all her tests showed that it was.

As sassy59 quite rightly points out though, at least your GP is listening to you and is sending you for the tests necessary to get you a proper diagnosis, and, once you have that, you'll hopefully be able to move forward in finding a treatment that works for you.

I thought id got Cancer of the bowel, so once the biopsies come back normal i dont know of anything more troubling than that, the pockets i was diagnosed with around 8yrs ago. i know my dad had it has well and he never got any treatment offered for it all those years ago. So ive no idea what could be offered to treat it if it has worsened, id no idea they could be removed. They cause lots of painful bloating,
