Quotation for Saturday 13th June 2020

Hi everyone,

I've had today's quotation sitting on my computer desktop for quite some time and had all but forgotten about it.

It's from John Ruskin on the subject of our deeds in life.

"It is better to be nobly remembered than nobly born".

Well, of course, because what is nobility? We tend to think of it as a word referring to those who are born into the upper echelons of society and that this somehow confers on them the quality of having the moral high ground, instead of its root meaning which is the quality of behaving in a principled and knowledgeable way.

There are countless examples through history of those born into wealth and privilege who have lived anything but noble lives.

And it's really some of the humblest people who are ultimately thought of nobly after they die.

We can't alter the circumstances of our birth, or find our way into what we generally call nobility, but we can definitely strive to be noble people throughout our lives.

Happy weekend to you all, and especial happy wishes to anyone who is able to enjoy the new 'bubble' rules and able to meet up at long last with a loved one. Hope you have a wonderful reunion. 🙏

Thank you for the quote Callendersgal and for the photo of a very noble man.

I just want to wish you and everyone a happy weekend as we bid goodbye to yet another week.

I’m looking forward to seeing our grandson on Wednesday 17th when he’ll celebrate his 8th birthday.

Stay safe. Xxxx😘🌈👍
