I'm reliably informed it's Friday, and nowadays I either have to ask or really check the calendar carefully, to be sure.
So it almost definitely being Friday, here are a few more rambling thoughts about events recently.
There's still not much being posted about actual Caring worries so I hope everyone is coping OK still and not being beset with issues they can't find solutions to.
I was watching a local news report last night on a Care Home in total lockdown with the staff all remaining on site, and some of them sleeping in tents outside. Now that's dedication and as well as remembering NHS and other staff on Thursday evenings, next week I'll be clapping loud and long especially for the Carers in homes who are putting themselves in jeopardy too, with not enough PPE or who have unselfishly left their loved ones to keep other loved ones safe from harm. It's just incredible how much human spirit is out there when the chips are down. I wonder why we always have to wait for a crisis for that to be, or is it simply that we just don't see what's in front of us sometimes?
Hope springs eternal and it's cheering to see that vaccine trials are now underway in several parts of the world, including the UK, so fingers crossed for a successful outcome from one of them, even though we will probably have to wait a while.
The weather's looking good again, and now my husband's got 4 nights off duty, we're hoping to get out for some more early morning walks. I do look forward to those.
I hope that everyone will be able to find some moments of peace and happiness this weekend, and are able to care for yourselves as well as those you are looking after.
Thank you for that thought provoking post Callendersgal. Like you I have to check which day I’m on. Mind you Friday is shopping delivery day so can’t forget that. Would you believe I ordered oat milk for my daughter in law but none available? How odd. I’m sure our son will get her some.
Like you, we clapped for the NHS last night and all the wonderful carers out there who are so devoted to those they care for.
Our son is off work until Tuesday when he will do six straight 12 hour shifts. He will be placed wherever he’s needed so I hope he has a trouble free time at work.
I hope everyone on this great forum are coping as well as they can but we are all here for each other if needed.

Those random things which aren't available are puzzling aren't they? I can scarcely believe, even with the rise in veganism, that oat milk would ever be in short supply. I hope your daughter in law manages to get some. And I'll be thinking of your son over the next week during his six shifts and hope he does have a trouble-free time. I feel so lucky that my daughter is in a non-operational role at the moment and can work from home. I know that can change at any time, but it's reassuring for now.

Well we are coping fairly well. We have got the food sorted and prescription delivery. Some days I feel a bit down but I
guess most of us have those days.
The sun is shining and that helps.
I am having a bit of a game getting dressings for my husband's feet. I think it's sorted now but still not got them.
Was very pleased that the podiatrist called yesterday checking how things are.
They will come to the house if things start going wrong. I was very pleased about that as other areas of NHS are closed to us at the moment.
Had to get my central heating fixed as I couldn't turn it off. Had very quick service so that was good.
The only thing upsetting me is my neighbor. We have a communal garden and she has taken to ranting that the whole Corona thing is a conspiracy to control people and it is a plan by the Super rich to control the world. Saying we are all idiots. I could really do without this.
I feel like saying the super rich have always controlled the world but what the heck.
The people I worry about are those that can not be with their loved ones in hospitals and homes. I know this causes a lot of suffering.
Hi Lynd, thanks for taking time out to let us know how you are getting on, and I'm glad you haven't got any major problems at the moment. It did take some time to get deliveries sorted didn't it? My sister has had the same problem but things are settling for her too, now.
So sorry to hear about the dressings though. After all, they are vital, so I hope it is really sorted out now.
Oh those darned conspiracy theorists. The trouble is there's no way to convince them and I've had to adopt my own strategy to deal with them that doesn't lead to illegal acts against them!
Whenever any of them starts ranting, I've taken to saying 'yes, probably', to every stupid claim, whilst under my breath muttering, 'how dreadful to be so ignorant'. And it's so true that the world has always been ruled by money. So don't let her get you down Lynd, but if you feel like having a down day generally, I feel it's better to have it than to try to fight it off. If you do that, it passes and you feel better next day. So be kind to yourself. I hope both of you continue to stay safe and well and that you can enjoy your weekend in one way or another.
