Any help both myself and son on p.i.p would I be ables to claim carers allowance for him he is on enhanced rate for daily living and standard for mobility I am also on esa contributions based as had to give work 2.5 years ago due to ill health

Hi Mitchy65,

Yours and your son's situation sounds quite complex and I think your best course of action would be to contact CAB (citizens' advice bureau) who can work with your particular set of circumstances to see what can be claimed.

If you are the carer for your son, if he gets Higher Rate PIP for the Care Component, and provide care for 35+ hours a week, then (in theory) you should be entitled to Carer's allowance, although it is now being changed to come under Universal Credit.

However, if you are also on PIP, it may make things more complicated. I would recommend you enquire via CAB, or a Welfare Rights organisation.
