Financial topics are a long way out of my comfort zone and I'd hate to give you incorrect information, so hopefully some of our other members will be able to help you. In the unlikely event that no-one else is able to, it's never a bad plan to fall back on CAB (citizens' advice bureau). They are Benefits wizards and will I'm sure be able to tell you. I'd like to add my welcome and warm wishes to our very supportive community too. Callendarsgal has given you good advice. It would be best if you make an appointment with your local Citizens Advice Bureau, they are best place to give you free, impartial advice and help with any forms etc. Do check out our Pinned Posts section as there is a post about 'Carer's Allowance -what are the rules', as claiming CA can affect other benefits.
