Today is Winnie the Pooh Day!

Hello, everyone, I have just heard on the radio that today is Winnie the Pooh Day, which is celebrated annually on 18 January. My goodness, there seems to something to celebrate every day of the year. But I love the fact that we get to celebrate this loveable, cuddly old character with some homespun wisdom by AA Milne. So thinking about this week’s Feel Good Friday here are a couple of quotes for you to think about, and maybe you can add some favourite ones too:

‘You’re braver than you believe and stronger and smarter than you think’ – Pooh

‘How do you spell ‘love’? Piglet asked

‘You don’t spell it …you feel it’, replied Pooh

Some people care too much, I think it’s called love’ – Pooh.

So my friends no matter how your week has been going, remember you are braver than you believe and stronger and smarter than you think.

Have a good weekend. Wrap up warm and maybe go outside for a walk in the woods and play pooh sticks or some such childish pleasures to brighten your day and lighten your mood.

Take care and have a good one.

How fabulous MAS_Nurse. I didn't know Winne-the Pooh and friends had their own day, even though I've been a firm fan all of my life. And now my daughter, who is hurtling into middle-age, has also discovered nostalgia and has started her own Pooh collection of books and memorabilia. Only a couple of months ago we held our own private 'poetry evening', with a bottle of wine and snacks, reading aloud the poems from 'When we were very young' and 'Now we are six'. Such happy reading, and often unexpectedly inspirational, as in the quotes you gave us. Our favourite poem, 'Teddy Bear' begins 'A bear no matter how he tries, grows tubby without exercise'. No prizes offered for guessing why!

These January days can be difficult to get through. Life can feel bleak enough mid-winter, without all of the heavy commitments so many of us have on top of just personally getting through the day. My life's relatively easy at the moment but I'm very mindful that a lot of us are having really tough times. I definitely think that listening to the wisdom of Pooh and Co. can be very helpful.

Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.

I love Winnie the Pooh and had no idea he had a day. Thank you MAS_Nurse, that’s certainly made mine.

We’ve had a better week this week and Pete’s improving gradually.

Chilly today so keeping nice and warm.

Have a great weekend everyone and wrap up against the cold. Xxxx

Thank you for my Winnie fix. Much needed.

Brief update on distant relative. Over Xmas shingles. In the past week has blown up a microwave and it took over 2hours to stop the smoke detectors.

So...... Not strictly Winnie related but to preserve my sanity I lived on memories of recently finding a "fairy garden".

A beautiful thing. Located in a shallow bowl where the main trunk of a tree divides into major branches. Just very short grass and flowering weeds but my fairy garden.

What can you do when the GP tells the person that what they can do to help is " get you in a home" and is told to (and it isn't a direct quote but you get the idea) "take a long walk off a short pier at high tide wearing concrete boots?"

Winnie rules!
