Hello Redeem64, I am really sorry Theresa that you have this very painful chronic condition. I am assuming that your GP and specialist have done all the necessary tests to confirm your diagnosis. It is not at all easy living with chronic pain, and I am sure that some days are worse perhaps if you are feeling tired or have done a lot. I wonder have you been referred to a Pain Clinic Specialist, so that your pain can be properly assessed and managed as best as possible.?If not, then you may like to ask your GP for a referral. You need to make sure that you are getting enough pain medication, and the right medication to help you cope with the pain and allow to allow you to sleep at night time. You may find that you need to pace yourself , especially on days when you are in a lot of pain. And when your pain is bad, do take things easy, be kind to yourself, sit down and have a nice relaxing cup of tea or a nice warm herbal bath. I wonder have you tried any of the alternative treatments, such as acupuncture or hypnosis? Many people can and do benefit from these. Also meditation or to practice some mindfulness may be of help to you. It may help our very kind and supportive community members if you would like to tell us more about your condition and what treatment you are having?. I wish you as well as possible and do let us know how you are getting on, ,,,,,,,,with kindest regards and very best wishes to you......

How kind of you. Yes I was referred to pain consultant who is also interested in mindfulness. He gave me injections

Amytriptaline . Nothing worked. He the referred me to a pain management course. I met nice people it did help. But my chronic pain is too clever for that.

Carnetts sign is a trapped nerve under the abdomen muscles. Any ideas

I suffer from several kinds of long term (chronic) pain, and like you I've tried just about everything under the sun to try to help myself. Pain clinics are fine but what I've found, over what's quite a long period of time now, is that trial and error are the answer until you find what helps YOU. In my case, it's localized heat. Hot water bottles, heat pads, and, to a limited extent a hot bath, though that is usually only effective for as long as I'm under the water. (And it can be a whole lot of bother when you know that preparing it is only going to give you 10 minutes of comfort).

I'm not saying that heat will be the answer for you, and, in any case, you should always make sure that heat's not going to harm your condition in any way first, but you should experiment with absolutely anything you can think of, that might bring some relief.

It's misery living with long term pain. It is eventually etched into the lines on your face and people begin to find you miserable to be with and that gives you emotional pain too. So I do hope you'll be able to find your own effective help for yours.
