Tinnitus and noise sensitivity

I’m a long term tinnitus sufferer who has just got on with it. Recently I’ve noticed that late at night both in a quiet room or when there are background noises, some really quiet sound such as a gentle tap on my iPad or the clicking of a pen send a jarring shock wave through my body and a sudden peak in the intensity of my tinnitus. Is this a common effect for tinnitus sufferers?

Sounds like you’ve become sensitive to electro magnetic fields . I have a friend who suffers terribly with that sort of thing . Let’s hope yours just goes away on its own. I’m sure it’s nothing to do with tinnitus , but I might not be right.

Certain tones or pitches sound louder to me than they should which often caused a spike in my tinnitus - so for me I think it’s probably all part of it ? Not sure if that helps...

Yes, I sometimes have with very low noises in the background; my T becomes suddenly louder for a second or so. Then it goes down to the normal level.
