Hi. I had a fibroscan a few weeks ago, the consultant called me a few days ago with the result.

He said that I have severe liver fibrosis F3, very nearly F4.

I am awaiting a hospital appointment, I have been told to expect regular, frequent appointments.

How concerned should I be?

Thanks

Hello there and welcome to the forum, hopefully you'll find us a helpful and supportive bunch.

If you arn't familiar with the terminology, F4 is cirrhosis so you are just below that level but all isn't lost and with F3 you have some chance of preventing further worsening & even reverse some of the fibrosis if you can get to grips with what is causing the damage.

Once you get your follow up appointment you should learn more of what you need to do to hopefully help your liver recover the best it can.

I see you mention NAFLD in your profile. The British Liver Trust website has lots of information on this condition with guidance on how diet and exercise can often help and maybe you can start working on this even before you have your next appointment.
