hello.

I posted before but I need to clarify a few points. I had blood test recently which came back Alp 177 and Alt 50. Everything else ok. I do not currently have a diagnosis of liver disease…..well not yet! I am not on any medication. Over the years I have drunk too much white wine but never every day often once a week. I would have a bottle a week and sometimes two socially. I could never handle it very well so don’t know why I did it. I have given up for good now and I’m finding it very easy. However, these blood test results seem alarming to be. I had a blood test this June which was fine and two blood test last year again all fine. This is he first time a problem has arose. I’ve read all about Alp and it could be raised f you have cirrhosis. Although could that be even possible as I’ve never had elevated lft’s before, so if I had fatty liver I didn’t know about it. I’m getting repeat bloods done. Can anybody guide me a little bit pease as your knowledge of this area is far greater mine. Is 177 very high for Alp.

Hi there, like I said before, ALP can be elevated due to three things: liver, OR intestines, OR bones. Or a combination of the before mentioned.

Make sure you don’t eat a fatty meal the evening before the blood test. Any bone injuries or inflammation can also contribute to it being elevated.

Hope it helps

Mine was high and is now normal.

Hello

Test results vary according to both the individual’s whole health and the laboratory analysing the results and should always be interpreted by the user’s own health care professionals.

We suggest talking this through with your own doctor or health care professional.

Best wishes
