Well last time I posted I said my partner was being treated for sepsis with antibiotics and was a miracle how much he had improved and it really is ......but everytime thd antibiotics stopped we go back to the beginning again, shivers uncontrollably, fever, high heart rate, confusion, loss if mobility. So yet again after 26 hrs hoping through A&E he was admitted again, they keep saying its his liver getting worse abd think he now needs to be referred for transplant. But I'm still convinced it's his body fighting an infection and has got to be from thdme ascitic drain in January!

Well on consultant listened to me they couldn't find any ascitic fluid to test so did a CT TAP scan. How now found a mass in his abdomen pressing in his bowels spreading towards his lymph nodes, they think it is probably bowel cancer but now gave to wait gof colonoscopy and biopsy to confirm.

Problem is they're not sure if he's strong enough to remove the mass because if liver, and won't refer him for transplant dut to cancer. So what do we do ????

Sorry just had to put in writing I think for my own sanity ! I'm scared and devastated don't know how to help him or shat to say x

Hi there. I'm so so sorry to hear what you are going through. Are you sure he hasn't got Hepatic Encephalopathy. Your partner should possibly be on Rifaximin which is an antibiotic if he has HE. I would possibly seek advice from 111. They do give advice. I'm not a GP but I did have HE and my liver was decompensated at that time in August 2021. I was put on Rifaximin in hospital in 2021 and remained on it for 16 months. I think it is given to patients with HE along with lactulose and docusate. I could be wrong but it is certainly worth checking. My liver is now compensated thank goodness.

I do so hope that your partner is OK. What I've written probably isn't helpful but probably worth checking it out.

My very best wishes Golly x

Thank you Golly123 he is already on Rifaxamin and lactulose they said it doesn't present like HE but like they're is an underlying infection. Just can't locate it, but he's now on 2 week pathway for cancer diagnosis so might provide some kind of explanation x

Sending you lots of love and hugs. I can't say anything to help, sometimes these things are plain and simply horrible, no easy way round it. I hope others that have been in similar circumstances can offer you more advice.🤗

Hi, I’m so sorry to hear your husbands ongoing rollercoaster ride. Every new diagnosis is another thing to come to terms with. The waiting to hear what can be done is just horrible. Having said that, they really can do incredible things for bowel cancer even when the liver is affected. There is still hope. Look after yourself xxx

Thank you so much Readlots! We go for colonoscopy on Friday so hopefully find out more and see what the plan is. Your comments mean a lot and knowing there are things that can be done gives us hope xxx
