I've been trying for the past year to find out what's happening with my liver but it's been impossible - I'm just worried about it so i hope this is okay to share & ask if anyone knows anything?
my ALT started rising in March - but returned to normal after a few weeks. i have gastroparesis & before i had a feeding tube placed, i wasn't managing much nutrition. my ALT levels seem to always lower when I'm having less nutrition - at the moment I'm in a steady NJ feeding plan but my ALT has skyrocketed. it's currently around 280 u/l. in june this year it was 5-15 u/l. my AST has also been rising throughout the year - it's only slightly elevated though.
my consultant finally ordered more bloods this week & ANA came back negative & my doctor's surgery said everything looked fine - except for my ALT & AST. I think they were looking for signs of hepatitis but i now feel so confused as to whether or not that's been ruled out - & if it has - then there's still no ideas for what's wrong with my liver.
i also had a completely normal fibroscan in spring of this year. &my liver has never had any issues til now. could this be autoimmune hepatitis or something else?
thank you in advance

In your previous posts, you wrote about bowel problems and a positive hydrogen test, which may be due to bacterial overgrowth. If the results of Fibroscan are normal, secondary liver damage due to intestinal problems is possible. Possibly bacterial intestinal toxins enter the liver through the portal vein and may cause secondary liver damage.
Hi Rose, try not to think about what it could be and definitely don’t Google because you’ll go down a rabbit hole of anxiety. Wait for the test results and talk to your GP. Write down all your questions so that you can get the answers you need from a professional. Ask for a referral to a hepatologist if necessary. Often tests rule things out. Livers often react to things eg medication, and then settle down. Best wish es
