Are there any companies that are better for people with Cirrhosis?

We have just had a quote of £2007 for two weeks in Canada & Alaska.

thanks

Hi, back in 2018 i had a diagnosis of cirrhosis with varices, following hospitalisation back in Oct/Nov 2017. I searched many specialist (illness) travel insurance companies and they quoted outrageous prices to cover a 3 day trip to Spain. I eventually booked with coverwise.co.uk , declared liver disease with varices and 1 x hospital stay within the year and it only cost £12.88 to get a whole year's cover (Europe). Xx

If this helps, these are the medical questions answered within the policy from Coverwise.

Hi, I have just asked for a quote at Coverwise travel insurance and have declared Liver Cirrhosis and varices, however, they have told me they cannot cover my pre existing conditions and therefore cannot insure me. I only want to go to Spain for 11 days in April 2022. I wonder why they have accepted you. I will phone them tomorrow and get more info.

Hi, i wonder if it is because i purchased mine in 2018 prior to Brexit and now that we aren't part of the EU it might be more difficult in Europe than it was in 2018.

It's worth calling them, as i did mine online and the questions were quite matter of fact regarding our condition.

Good luck and i hope you get some sorted at an affordable price (i did find that getting a years cover worked out cheap rathet than the 3 days i was away). X

It probably was before the pandemic and before UK left the European Union that travel insurance for pre existing conditions was a lot cheaper. I have asked for quotes from several companies and the range in prices for similar cover was anything from £169 to £3011, which is unbelievable really. Thanks for for wishing me luck and I’ll continue to try until I get a price that I think is reasonable.

I pay £33/month for my annual policy with Staysure. That only covers me for Europe but I have recently been quoted an extra £400 for cover to US. Apparently this is due to the extortionate cost of medical treatment in America! t

I have just booked with Stay Sure, £600 cheaper than the other quote I had. Still a lot as hubby has other issues too including ding Osteoporosis and Peripheral Neuropathy, but it’s for hubbys 60th birthday

Yeah I’m in the states and medical treatment bankrupts people without insurance. It sucks.

It’s worth it to me to pay for an annual policy. Making the most of my time before my illness progresses. Hope you have a lovely holiday.
