Does liver effect your hair

Just a question

Does fatty liver have any effect on hair. I feel my hair is really thinning to a worrying degree. Not sure if allowed to use Manoxidil (Regaine) the only topical scalp medication that dr recommends. As it’s only applied to scalp not digested, but not sure if I can use it.

In my experience it does although I never used anything to help . Since transplant I have never had any underarm hair although my head hair did seem thicker

Hi seoe.Not aware of fatty liver causing hair loss but cirrhosis definately has a dramatically bad affect on the condition and thickness of hair. So your thinning hair may be caused by a number of other factors such as age, hormone changes or stress .

I did read that the worse the diagnosis the worse the hair loss gets, so I guess if you 'only' have NAFLD stage 1 then it's not so bad and stage 4 is bad. Mind you I can't remember where I read it so it may not be a reliable recollection!

I have stage 3 to 4 fibrosis and my hair is really thinning, I dont know if it's related to my liver. I am post menopausal but could be that as well.
